Microsoft Deleted 6 Fake Google Apps from the Windows Phone Store
Last weekend, Microsoft withdrew a half dozen fake Google apps from the Windows Phone Store. Application question is: Hangouts, Google Voice, Google Search, Google, Google Maps, and Gmail (email from Google).
All applications are published by "Google, Inc." (instead of "Google Inc..") And each costs $ 1.99. The only application that I have to offer for Windows Phone is a search application, the issuer name "Google Inc.." A group of applications was first discovered by WinBeta and broadcast on Friday (28/3). It takes six hours for Microsoft to react. In that time, another fake application successfully entered the shop window.
The company responded with the following generic statement: Microsoft collects ecosystem intellectual property very seriously and we use multiple layers of prevention and response to help protect it. Because the Windows Phone Store is the only authorized source of public applications and games for Windows Phone, developers will be easy to monitor and notify Microsoft if there is a violation by email reportapp@microsoft.com.
Despite all of the company's statement is true, but the fact is there are a handful of fake application which successfully passed the requirements. Microsoft is routinely criticized for having lax regulations when approving the applications entry into the Windows Phone Store. While these six applications were reported to be lost, many other fake applications still remains perched Store.
