Power Sleep : Calculation Protein Applications That Works When User asleep

Often times , during the night leaving smartphone users in the condition of charging the battery is fully charged in order to move in the morning . Yet even when not accessing smartphones , the actual kitchen implanted in them to keep working . Such a habit is what then makes the Samsung Austria and the University of Vienna wanted to take advantage of all the unused processing power , for computational -based research in curing diseases when the user is sleeping .

Via a new application called Power Sleep , the system works using a mobile phone user downtime for the calculation of the protein . Power Sleep bridge application users with a simple alarm clock function . Starting from when the alarm is set and smartphone users plugged in , fully charged , to connect to a WiFi network , then the application will process the data sent from the database Similarity Matrix of Proteins ( SIMAP ) . This application runs in the background the phone , and the cycle of " super computer cloud " is used to calculate the data that is less than 1MB .

The user can easily set the alarm from the main screen . The arrangement includes an alarm ringing options , snooze duration , repeat daily alarms , and applications over a 3G network connection . This study aims to assist the advancement of medical disciplines such as genetics and heredity , biochemistry , molecular biology , and cancer research .

" In order to fight diseases such as cancer and Alzheimers , we need to know how the intake of protein , " said Thomas Ratte , professor of bioinformatics at the University of Vienna. " It requires a test that requires large amounts of processing power . Power Sleep is a bridge between science and society . 's Promoting not only our research , but it allows people in Austria to become part of the project . "

Power Sleep app is available for free on Samsung App Store and Play Store . This application can be run on the Android operating system version 2.3 Gingerbread or higher.
