LONDON - BlackBerry Assistant is a personal assistant technology Siri rival Apple and Google Now that was first introduced last July. This software made its debut on the BlackBerry smartphone Passport launched simultaneously in three cities on Wednesday (09/24/2014) yesterday.
In contrast to other similar services, the Director of the BlackBerry Handheld Software, Michael Clewley, said that BlackBerry Assistant is specifically designed to facilitate users in the work.
"Google Now and Siri can not access work files when users are out of office, but the BlackBerry Assistant can do it," Clewley said while speaking at the event.
He then shows the results of activities scheduled in the calendar via BlackBerry Passport office. Meanwhile, a similar search can not be done on the iPhone 6 because the phone is locked out of the system and can not authenticate.
BlackBerry Assistant may be required to open, read, reply to e-mails as well. This software is called is able to adjust the way it interacts with the user according to the context of the situation.
When "called" by the voice, for example, the BlackBerry Asssistant will reply with a voice as well. Similarly, when the BlackBerry Asssistant to detect Bluetooth connection, this software will reply orally because it assumes the user is driving a vehicle and could not see the screen.
Meanwhile, if it receives input through typed text, BlackBerry Assistant will not make a sound, but rather respond by writing sentences on the screen.
"You see, we can not give any time through typing or voice commands. When attending a meeting, for example, we do not want any sound from the phone and choose to type it. Assistant BlackBerry understand it and not be silent, "Clewley said.
Similar to Siri and Google Maps, BlackBerry Assistant can also be asked to find a location using the map service, and is integrated with several social networking.
