When first introduced, many predict that the L stands for "Lollipop". However, recent evidence indicates a leak appears Google has chosen another name.
The name was leaked in Wi-Fi certification issued for HTC Nexus tablet. In the certification, some items are many who use the abbreviation "LMP," like "lmp-preview-release" in the Android SDK firmware information L previews. Abbreviation LMP also appear when searched for in the firmware version of the Android Open Source Project (AOSP).
Android Police site on Sunday (24/08/2014) and then did some research and found that the only dessert with initials closest LMP is Lemon Meringue Pie and the name that will likely be used as an internal code of Android L which will be released two or three months.

Possibility Google also will commercialize the new Android version of the name, as he did with the chocolate KitKat brand.
However, for now, Android L is likely to be named Lemon Meringue Pie, cake baked with a crust on the bottom, and contains lemon custard with a topping made of beaten egg whites and sugar. This cake is commonly used as a dessert food.
