Phablet Sells 21 Percent Worldwide Smartphone Shipments
When it was first launched in 2011 , with a 5.3 -inch screen Samsung Galaxy Note ridiculed many people as smartphone devices that are too large to use . But now one of five smartphones shipped is phablet ( a term for a large sailing smartphones over 5 inches ) . From the data collected by market analysis firm IDC , of the 261.1 million smartphones shipped in the third quarter of 2013 , 21 percent of which is a device with a screen width of between 5 to 7 inches .
'' Almost all Android vendors have phablet successful in their product portfolio . Phablet shipments now reached 21 percent , up from just 3 percent last year . We believe the absence of a similar device with a big screen follow Apple has contributed to the inability to raise their market share in the third quarter of 2013 , '' said Ryan Reith , IDC Program Director .
Experts and analysts have criticized Apple's many who do not want to produce an iPhone with a bigger screen . Though recently Nokia with Windows Phone its course have participated in the war with Lumia phablet 1520 and 1320 . Rumors about Apple phablet actually keeps popping up , rumored iPhone next year there will be a big sail with a curved screen .
