Android KitKat Censored Thousand Words
Google decided to block the words in the English language inappropriate / rude in its latest operating system , KitKat . Google 's move follows the footsteps of Apple, which previously also block offensive vocabulary in the iPhone .
When Steve Jobs was worried Apple smartphone will be misused users to access pornographic contents .
Currently I have a list of words detailing what will be blocked . The word list later would not be recognized by the smartphone . The operating system will then suggest another vocabulary .
The number of vocabulary " forbidden " gathered by Google currently reaches 165,000 words in the English language .
Appeared many will debate which is prohibited by the Android vocabulary , some people think there are words that should not be included in the list but instead are prohibited , such as " lactation " .
Another example is the word " bong " is allowed , but " morphine " no ; " Nazi " may be , but " Klansmen " and " supremacist " no . " Apple " and " Microsoft " may be , but " AMD " or " Garmin " should not be . " Geek " is also included in the list of prohibited substances in KitKat .
Google has not explained how the methods used to collect the list of forbidden words .
Technology critic Chris Matyszczyk at CNET website ( 03/12/2013 ) recommends that Google and Apple do not be too negative or too often prejudiced correct words automatically. According to him , the smartphone was supposed to be private property , and the user has the freedom of expression with his smartphone .
