Fortunately , there is a unique mobile application called Enlighten , which can help the driver to find out how long the light is red before turning to green light .
This application dibesut by a team of Green Drive , and has been exhibited at the International Consumer Electronics Show , Las Vegas , last week . Applications utilizing traffic data real-time from a number of cities , combined with the accelerometer and GPS in smartphones to determine the location and speed of the user . When the vehicle detects the user stops , the sensor will calculate approximately how long the time available until the vehicle can be re- moved . Not sure how much this application can help , because sometimes the traffic light is red just for one or two minutes .
Enlighten work using their own algorithms to calculate how the duration of the light from red to green , as well as already sync with the city's traffic lights system . Unfortunately , Enlighten is not available to users around the world . So far , Green Driver is partnered with agencies in 9 cities in the United States . Enlighten will work in cities such as Portland , Oregon ; Eugene , Oregon ; Pasadena , California ; Arcadia , California ; San Jose , California ; Salt Lake City , Utah ; Provo , Utah ; Garland , Texas and Las Vegas . The addition of more cities are targeted to be completed during 2014.
Enlighten application can be used on iOS and Android -based devices , and can be downloaded at no cost . For owners of the iPhone , the application is compatible with iOS version 6.1 or higher .
